A new Wajda

”TATARAK” SHOOTING CONCLUDED!

On 15th September, in Warsaw, the final scene of the latest film by Andrzej Wajda was shot. The script for the film is based on a short story by Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz entitled ”Tatarak” with another story, ”A Sudden Call” by Hungarian writer Sándor Márai, constituting an integral part of the script.

In the lead parts we will see Krystyna Janda (Marta) and Paweł Szajda (Boguś)
– an American actor of Polish orgin, whose performance in this film is his debut in Polish cinema. The remaining roles are played by Jadwiga Jankowska–Cieślak (Friend), Jan Englert (Doctor), Julia Pietrucha (Halinka) and Roma Gąsiorowska (Maid).

The shooting commenced on 12th August in Grudziądz, then in Zalesie, Warka by White Lake near Płock and in Warsaw.

Paweł Edelman was the cinematographer, the mise-en-scene was by Magdalena Dipont, interior designs by Wiesława Chojkowska, costumes by Magdalena Biedrzycka, stylisation of ”Marta” by Waldemar Pokromski, make up by Marcin Rodak. Ewa Brodzka took up casting and production managment, with Milenia Fiedler responsible for the editing .

The producer is Michał Kwieciński and his Akson Studio – a company which has already produced an Oscar 2008 nominee ”Katyń” by Andrzej Wajda. Coproducer of the film is Agency Media Plus.
